MANILA, Philippines - "Until now, I still can't believe that I won the (P136 million) jackpot!"

The lucky winner of Grand Lotto 6/55's huge R136 million jackpot in the Wednesday draw uttered this Thursday as he received his check from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).

He is a public school teacher, 55, of Nueva Ecija.

The winner's System 7 bet worth P140 via the "Lucky Pick" mode with seven combinations hit the 6/55 pot, one of his bets matching the winning numbers -- 12-08-46-53-41-55.

PCSO General Manager Jose Ferdinand M. Rojas II turned over the check representing the prize at stake, P136,855,753.2O.

Rojas learned from the winner that he has been a long time lotto bettor, but places bets only when there is a big jackpot.

“Until now I still can't believe that I won the (P136 million) jackpot," he told the PCSO official as he accepted the check.

The public school teacher said he will help finish the construction of a church in his barangay, buy a rest house in Baguio City, retire soon, and share his prize money with relatives.

Rojas said just a day after the May 9 draw, the winner, his wife, and members of his family trooped in the afternoon to the PCSO at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City to claim the prize.

In a related development, two lucky bettors will share Lotto 6/42's P12.8-million prize for jointly winning in the draw Thursday.

Their winning tickets were purchased in Antipolo, Rizal, and Baclaran, which hit the numbers drawn, 18-24-29-14-28-08.

With the big jackpot won, Grand Lotto will start again with the guaranteed jackpot of P30 million and 6/42 with P3 million.
