Taipei, June 28 (CNA) Google Inc. and Taiwan's Asustek Computer Inc. unveiled Thursday the first tablet computer in Google's Nexus line of devices, triggering a new wave in the war to bring cheaper tablets to the market.
The Nexus 7 is the world's first 7-inch quad-core tablet powered by Nvidia Corp.'s Tegra 3 processor and Google's latest Android 4.1 "Jelly Bean" operating system, which, according to Asustek, enables faster webpage load and more responsive gameplay.
The 8GB model of the Nexus 7 will be priced in the United States at US$199, while the 16GB version will be available for US$249.
"We are very excited about this partnership and the synergy that it brings into the hands of consumers," said Asustek Chairman Jonney Shih in an email statement.
