MANILA, Philippines — The Sandiganbayan denied with finality the prosecution's motion to have detained Sen. Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. transferred to Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City.
Associate Justice Efren dela Cruz, chair of the anti-graft court's First Division, said in a resolution released Wednesday that the prosecution did not give sufficient reason to warrant the senator's move to another detention facility.
"The prosecution's motion for reconsideration dated Sept. 10, 2014 is hereby denied for lack of merit," Dela Cruz said.
Revilla, accused of plunder stemming from the multi-billion-peso pork barrel scam, is currently detained at the police headquarters at Camp Crame, Quezon City.
In the resolution, Dela Cruz said the prosecution panel cited Revilla's unauthorized visit to co-accused Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile, who is under hospital arrest, in February "to justify his transfer to Camp Bagong Diwa."
