VISA STICKERS
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is now using security visa stickers to intensify the drive against under-the-table transactions in the agency. BI Commissioner Seigfred Mison said the stickers bear micro line prints and optical variable device designed to make it virtually impossible for counterfeiters to duplicate. The sticker will be pasted on the temporary visitor’s visa (TVV), special study permit (SSP) visa and long-stay visitor visa extension (LSVVE). Mison said the development of the new security sticker is part of BI’s modernization program. The BI earlier it will install 200 new passport readers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport and other ports. The electronic readers will facilitate inspection and verification of travel documents at immigration counters and help detect fake travel papers. (Jun Ramirez)
MARILAO BET HITS P17.7-M JACKPOT
A standard pick bet for Lotto 6/42 placed at a Lotto outlet in Marilao, Bulacan, hit the P17.7-million jackpot Tuesday as Tropical Storm Glenda was pounding Luzon. The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) said the bet matched the winning numbers combination of 19-01-17-31-12-07 for the Lotto 6/42 lotto. As this developed, PCSO Vice Chairman/General Manager Jose Ferdinand M. Rojas II said the jackpot for yesterday’s Super Lotto 6/49 was projected at P76 million after no bet hit the winning numbers combination of 35-28-31-41-18-39 of last July 15’s 6/49 draw which carried a P70.4-million jackpot.
