EuroMillions: £148million in the bank...but lotto winner shuns fine dining in favour of bacon butties

Adrian Bayford snubs posh food and washes sandwich down with pint of cider and a cola

DOWN-to-earth lotto winner Adrian Bayford yesterday shunned fine dining to tuck into two bacon butties for lunch.

With £148million to spend, he washed them down with a pint of cider and a cola.

Later Adrian and wife Gillian were driven from Scotland’s four-star Carnoustie Golf Hotel to a caravan site, where her parents live in a chalet.

The hotel’s restaurant has an AA award, but Adrian, 41, and Gillian, 40, apparently were not tempted. One guest said: “The menu is divine and offers the very best of Scottish produce, and the wine list is fantastic.”

The couple from Haverhill, Suffolk, who flew to Scotland to celebate the Euromillions win with Gillian’s family, had a lie-in yesterday, emerging from their £150-a-night room at midday.

They had drinks on the terrace with Gillian’s father Ian, who had a pint of beer, while mum Brenda looked after their children Cameron, six, and Aimee, four.

The day before Gillian had treated herself to her dream car – a £60,000 Audi Q7 – in nearby Dundee while Adrian spent hours splashing the cash on the kids.
