MANILA, Philippines - Bureau of Corrections director Gaudencio Pangilinan has voluntarily gone on leave of absence after the reported kidnapping of murder convict Rolito Go inside the National Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.
Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda announced on Thursday that President Benigno Aquino III accepted Pangilinan's offer to go on indefinite leave of absence pending the results of the probe on the matter by the Department of Justice.
Reports said Go went missing while he was on his way back to his quarters at the minimum security compound of the NBP Tuesday night.
Philippine National Police director general Nicanor Bartolome announced that Go was recaptured after he was allegedly set free by his captors Wednesday night somewhere in Alabang.
