MANILA, Philippines - A 52-year-old government employee from Pagadian City in Zamboanga del Sur yesterday claimed the P40,230,496 jackpot of the 6/49 Super Lotto draw last Sunday, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) said.

Jose Ferdinand Rojas II, PCSO general manager, said the winner, together with his wife, has maintained the winning number combination of 48-18-42-8-21-34 for the past 10 years.

The lucky bettor bet P280 for two sets of tickets for the number combination culled from the ages and birthdays of his four children.

It took time for him to buy plane tickets for himself and his wife because nobody in their neighborhood wanted to lend them money.

“The winner wants to buy a farm and put up a business,” Rojas said.

The winner is the fourth lotto instant millionaire within three weeks.

A lucky bettor from Manila won the P27,824,025.60 jackpot prize of the 6/45 Mega Lotto draw on Wednesday night.

The still unidentified winner bought the ticket of the winning combination of 5-8-26-32-38-41 from a lotto outlet along V. Mapa Street in Sta. Mesa, Manila.

Last Nov. 29, a 47-year-old vendor from Taytay, Rizal and a 60-year-old retiree shared the P134-million jackpot of the 6/55 Grand Lotto.
