Ledesma: Where is the President?

SOMETHING is terribly wrong. As of this writing President Aquino has not been visible and we still have to hear him comment on the bloody encounter between the military and the Abu Sayyaf Guerillas that had claimed the lives of 18 soldiers.
As commander in chief he should rally our soldiers as we expect him to condole with their bereaved families. Nothing.
What’s happening? Unless he surfaces the nation is in limbo. He has less than 90 days in office and the last thing we should expect from a lame duck president is to be both lamed and docking.
I can imagine the emotional and mental problems that he is suffering now. His anointed one, Mar Roxas, is now the tail ender and Grace Poe, his alternative bet is sliding down as quickly as she rose. VP Jojo Binay has his own problems and he is the last person he can run to for help. Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, the front runner, is determined to bring reforms in the government bureaucracy he might even decline to be escorted by the President from the Palace to Quirino Grandstand for the turnover ceremonies.
In fact none of that will happen. Duterte already said that if he will be elected President, he will take his oath in Malacañang so as not to cause traffic and will just have a simple ceremonies in the Palace.
Which means there will be no hi or hello to President Aquino. Day one is working day. Remember he said he will get rid of crime and the corrupt within 60 days? So day one means clearing the government with the inept like Abaya of DOTC, Alcala of DA a certain Honrado of NAIA among others. Duterte will have his hands full.
If former Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo was sent to the calaboose for writing “okay” as a marginal note to the fund request of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes officials, the future ex-president must be having sleepless nights how he can escape responsibility for illegally disbursing billions of “savings” under the fancy name Disbursement Acceleration Program, Malampaya Funds and PDAF.
