JERSEYVILLE — A man who a sales clerk described as a city resident, possibly in his 60s, came into the 16 West Quick Shop on Thursday night to claim his $200,000 Lucky Day Lotto winnings.
The clerk declined to provide the man's name, and he did not return a call to The Telegraph after she gave him a telephone message.
She said he is a regular customer at the business, 406 W. Carpenter St.
According to the Illinois Lottery website, the winning numbers for Thursday were: 10-16-23-28-37. Besides the man from Jerseyville, someone else matched all five numbers on a ticket sold at JD Food and Liquor in Westchester.
Both winners are to get $200,000 before taxes.
The stores each will get $2,000 bonuses.
The website says the odds of selecting all five winning numbers are 1:575,757 in 1,000, with pay-out starting at $100,000. There is a drawing every day of the year, with lottery officials saying more than 35,000 people win daily.
Prizes are substantially less for selecting four, three or two of the picked numbers.
A Ferguson, Mo., woman recently won even bigger than the Jerseyville man in the $500 A Week for Life game after buying a ticket at One Stop Shop, 1106 Milton Road in Alton. The website identifies her only as "Antoinette T.," and said she won $426,000 prior to April 30.
